This systematic review aims to identify key contributing factors, including noise exposure levels, physical agents, and chemical hazards.
Results: The selected studies were analyzed in two main categories: industry-specific prevalence patterns and combined effects of noise with environmental co-exposures. The results indicated higher prevalence rates of hearing loss among workers in mining, rubber manufacturing, ceramics, automotive, metalworking, dentistry, transportation, and airport personnel. Exposure to noise levels above 85 dB (A), particularly when coupled with age, work experience, and inadequate use of protective equipment, significantly elevates the risk. Additional factors such as smoking, chemical solvents, and heavy metals exert synergistic effects which further exacerbate hearing loss.
Conclusions: This review highlights the critical importance of comprehensive noise assessments and industry-specific hearing conservation programs to prevent irreversible hearing loss among workers. Our findings emphasize an urgent need for strengthened occupational health regulations that address both noise exposure and synergistic effects of combined hazards.
</abstract>
